Restoration & Repair….
Renovation of the Old Rectory- Polebrook
A lovely job near Oundle. We were asked to make 3 window alterations on this listed building, the walls are around 600mm thick and built very well.
RENOVATION OF a barbers shop- OLNEy
We loved working on this very old Grade 2 listed building in Olney. We replaced nearly 9 square meters of chiselled ashlar, some very big quoins, a few cills and a full rake out and repoint. Plus some minor repairs to the bay window. We were very mindful of keeping as much of the original stone as possible to preserve the buildings history. What a difference to the facade. Hanbeck Natural Stone supplied all of the stone and it was a fantastic match.
REpointing
We love repointing. Over time, the widespread use of cement based mortars has led to the deterioration of numerous stone walls. To combat this, we use only the finest traditional lime mortars for repointing stonework. We not only repair the damage but also revive the craftsmanship of the original masonsonry, preserving its timeless character for generations to come.
KETTERING, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE
A nice job repairing and conserving brick and stone. Our client carefully removed the render from the front of his house, revealing some very nice Victorian bricks and what would have been nice stone banding. Unfortunately whoever applied the render decided to hack into the perp joints of the bricks and punch holes into the stonework for the render to key to. We matched the bricks to specially coloured mortar, repaired them and then repointed. Measured up and replaced the stone work. Our client was very happy with the end result.
Grade II* Listed Building - bedfordshire
We loved restoring this rather tired looking Grade II* Listed building to it’s former glory. We worked our way around the whole house, but the front fascia was the main area of work. Cement repairs can store up heaps of trouble for the future. The apex ridge stones and window jambs had crumbled beneath the cement render and parts of the decorative plaque had been lost over time. Repairs involved measurements for replacement stone, templates, banker work and fixing, whilst being mindful of retaining as much of the old stone to preserve the house’s history. The new stone was carefully matched and fixed using lime mortar. Corbels and window jambs restored. After a thorough clean up the new stone blends beautifully with the old.
